Online only: Nick Harmer's advice for WWU students who want to be rock stars

Nick Harmer, bassist for the world-famous band Death Cab for Cutie, which got its start at Western Washington University, recently offered some advice for local acts who want to make it big:

"Keep practicing and go on tour," Harmer says. "The world has changed so much since we started, but what hasn’t is the power of a live show."

Going on tour and spending every second of every day in a cramped van heading from show to show, "that’s when you figure out if this crazy music life is going to work for you."
